Terebinth Refuge’s Story of Hope and Healing
Project Description
One thing that gets us out of bed every day is knowing we have the opportunity to use our gifts and talents to partner in life-changing work. Terebinth Refuge is an amazing organization that provides hope and healing for sexually exploited and trafficked woman by providing life-changing services and shelter. They came to us with the desire to tell their story with the goal of increasing their network of advocates, donors, and partners. We produced two videos for them. One was a compelling story of Javille who is a survivor of “the life” (the life of a sex trafficked individual). She has a powerful and emotional story. When producing a story like this you have to be experienced in navigating the content in a way where you will not re-traumatize the person sharing, and we need to avoid sensationalism as to no inadvertently exploit the person in the name of “getting more views”, you see this all over the news and social media. It is a delicate subject and needs to be approached with respect and dignity.
The second video was an overview of the organization, we interviewed a Chief of Police, a County Attorney and the Executive Director. These are people who can speak first hand to the reality and impact of sex trafficking in their communities. Together we gathered incredible content to lay out the problem and show a solution.

Applications: Stories are essential for nonprofits. When you provide a service that dramatically impacts lives for the better you have to capture those stories to get your message out. These types of videos have multiple uses, use them for fundraising events and use them for marketing and awareness online. They can also be great to share with potential partners like churches or corporations what may be able to show the videos to a group. They are also great to add value to a presentation. Stories move people to action.
